"Going to Rome is infiltrating in the history of my family, finding myself suspended between past and future, drowning in the present of the city of the dead, locked in the abandoned apartment of my Grandma as a temporary studio. I viscerally grow through the chambers of her house, her clothes, memorabilia, clutter, collected dust... in an act of occupation, denial, confrontation and re-scripting of my relation to her and to Italy"

In the lengthy project Derive Romane(2022), DF uses the city of Rome (especially the bankside of river Tiber, Imperial Forum, EUR district and his family house) to develop a real time spoken derive/delirium recursively transforming and staging his presence to play with the fabric of reality, mediated and directed through the camera frame that constantly follows.
